The journey along about 26 km (medium difficulty, journey time about five hours), is recognizable thanks to wooden post along the way. Interesting the way down the ‘Tratturello’, a path of prehistoric origin, used by shepherds for the passage of cattle during transhumance, to transfer every season the flocks  of sheeps from one pasture to another.

In the place where now stands the Hermitage, sixteenth-century religious complex consists of a church, a town and a roof garden, at the time of Celestine V, there was only a ‘narrow cave carved into the rock.

PATHS OF MOUNT SORBO

You will venture inland Vasto, between the mount Frentani and the river Treste. This is the largest and best preserved wooded area of all the territory of the High-Vasto. The route starts from Gissi, mountain village that stands betweeh the two tributaries of the river Sinello, and goes through different scenarios, including villages, nature, the archaeological areas, hills and mountains.

THE PATH OF THE BROOM

A walk not to be missed, even if you have to walk about four hours, covering more than 13 km. The route cross the beautiful Regional Natural Reserve Punta Aderci, a dune ecosystem miraculously escaped from the building, where the land meets the sea and the green of nature ’embraces’ the blue waters. A strip of Adriatic sea offers you glimpses of rare beauty, all immersed in the agricultural landscape typical of the Mediterranean.

SOURCES OF SINELLO, MONTE FISCHIETTO AND MONTE CASTEL FRAIANO

Through this trek along approximately 18 kilometers (six hours’ walk), you can look up to the “Terre dei Trabocchi”. The route, in fact, across the higher Frentani Mounts and offers breathtaking views. The north-western side of Fischietto Mount (1363 m) is stretched over the Val di Sangro with the mirror of Lake Bomba dominated by the majestic Majella. From the meadows at high altitude you may also encounter wild horses. But you will venture even in the past, to discover the ruins of a fortification of the twelfth century.
